Features of non-ferrous metals
Some metals (copper, magnesium, aluminum) possess rather high heat conductivity and specific heat that promotes quick chilling of the place of welding, demands application of more powerful sources of warmth when welding, and in some cases preliminary heating of detail. For some metals (copper, aluminum, magnesium) and their alloys quite sharp decrease in mechanical properties when heating therefore in this interval of temperatures metal easily collapses from blows is observed, or the welding bathtub even fails under the influence of body weight (aluminum, bronze). All color alloys when heating in much large volumes, than ferrous metals, dissolve gases of the surrounding atmosphere and chemically interact with all gases, except inert. Especially active more refractory and chemically more active metals in this sense: titanium, zirconium, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum. This group of metals is often allocated in group of refractory, chemically active metals.
